Whalley Hydro wins 2nd place at the CECA awards dinner

Spaans Babcock Ltd were responsible for the whole turnkey project comprising the installation of a Screw Generator on the south side of the River Calder at Whalley in Lancashire.

 

The scheme is based on a 3.5m diameter Screw Turbine with a 100 kW power output, which will generate enough power for 85 homes.

 

Electricity generated from this hydro scheme will be supplied to the National Grid and income will be used to improve energy security locally by investing in renewables and reducing carbon emissions.
