With a new water clearing system Corus IJmuiden meets the demands on draining which became valid on January 2001.

Spaans Babcock in conjunction with DHV developed the installation of the type Carousel 2000. The right dimensions were fixed after a pilot-investigation had taken place.

It turned out the biological burden had to be small in order not to disturb the process. The three surface aerators are of Spaans Babcock’s newest design, the O₂Max, with a diameter of 3800 mm. With two hundred kilowatt power each, they are the biggest of their kind.
