Spaans Babcock bv has performed the upgrade of the water treatment project Targu Mures in Romania. This turn- key project, of which Spaans Babcock is responsible for both design as well as the performance in Romania, consist of a complete new water treatment plant: 3 coarse screens, 2 fine screens with conveyor belt, press and sand eliminator, replacement of 6 screw pumps and 36 aerators.

The whole process is controlled by a new SCADA system. The customer, SC Aquaserv SA, has now not only got a new mechanic and biologic treatment but a solid and utmost modernized waste water treatment plant. The capacity of the plant has therefore been increased from 160.000 i.e. up to 240.000 i.e.The project has been EU financed with a loan from the EBRD (European Banc of Reconstruction Development.)
